The Covid vaccination programme started in December. On government orders, We are working with other practices to deliver the vaccine from Hornchurch Library.
We’re vaccinating people by priority groups, as ordered by the government
We have vaccinated most of our housebound patients, patients in care homes, people who needed to shield and those aged over 65.
Right now we are calling Group 6 – aged 16-64yrs in the ‘at risk’ group – people who qualify for a flu jab.
We’re using the Pfizer and Oxford AZ vaccines alternately depending on what we’re issued. Our understanding is there is nothing to choose between them, and we strongly suggest you have whichever is offered to you.
The vaccines are given in 2 doses, 12 weeks apart. After your first dose please work out when your second one is due. We will endeavour to contact you before then.
Please don’t contact the surgery about getting your first dose of Covid Vaccine – the NHS will send you a letter or we will call you, when it is your turn, with instructions on how to book it.
You can’t have either vaccine:
within 4 weeks of a positive Covid test
within 7 days of a flu jab
if you are on warfarin and your INR is above your target level
if you have had an anaphylactic reaction to the vaccine or any of its components, particularly polyethylene glycol.
